E-RIHS – ArcheoScienceFest 2025 – Aftermovie
Het Grote ArcheoScience Fest
This knowledge festival is all about sharing expertise, data and innovative tools: the perfect opportunity to meet colleagues from across the entire field of archaeoscience. Leading international scientists will be engaging in dialogue with their Dutch colleagues on such topics as geogenetics, marine geophysics, micromorphology and the use of multispectral drones and underwater robotics. We will also be discussing specific case studies related topics including Neolithic pottery, Bronze Age objects, glass beads, dental calculus and microremains. Speakers and presenters are coming from all over Europe: from Norway to Italy and from Denmark to the United Kingdom.
In addition, this is your chance to see analyses of all kinds in practice at the Archeolab an
d to familiarise yourself with 3D, VR and AI. Naturally, the E-RIHS archaeology projects of recent years will be part of the programme as well. You can also visit the science market and see and hear all about the scientific contribution to the reconstruction of the castellum and the conservation of the Roman ship. And all in a festival atmosphere with market stalls, food trucks and music.

SCIENCE DIALOGUES (Engelstalig)
In de theaterzaal gaven vijf toonaangevende internationale wetenschappers hun visie op Nederlandse archeologische sites en thema’s. In dialoog met Nederlandse referenten en het publiek ontstonden levendige gesprekken over nieuwe inzichten en onderzoeksmethoden. Bekijk hier de beeldverslagen van de Science Dialogues.
VEEL BELANGSTELLING VOOR HET ARCHEOLAB
In het ArchLab onderzochten specialisten van de Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed (RCE) en de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen (RUG) live de door bezoekers meegebrachte archeologische objecten. Er waren allerlei soorten apparatuur aanwezig en de bezoekers maakten enthousiast gebruik van de kans om vragen te stellen over materiaalanalyse en de gevonden materiaalsoorten.
ARCHEOSCIENCE-NU.NL: JONG TALENT IN THE SPOTLIGHT
In de studio presenteerden jonge onderzoekers in korte, krachtige sessies hun cutting-edge onderzoek en technologie. De interactieve opzet zorgde voor veel dynamiek en nieuwsgierige vragen uit het publiek.
RONDLEIDINGEN MET EXPERTS
De rondleidingen met experts als Hans Huisman en Erik Graafstal boden bezoekers een unieke kans om het Castellum en de omgeving op een andere manier te ervaren. De verhalen, anekdotes en historische context maakten grote indruk.
MEER DAN ALLEEN INHOUD
Naast het inhoudelijke programma was er volop ruimte voor ontmoeting, creativiteit en ontspanning. Op de science markt ontdekten bezoekers innovatieve technieken, bijzondere vondsten en oude ambachten, gerelateerd aan archeologisch onderzoek. Variërend van een houtwerkplaats voor restauratie van Romeinse schepen tot reconstructies van beautyproducten uit de oudheid, van koolstofdateringslaboratorium tot luminescentiedatering. Er was live muziek en anders kon er stiekem gedanst worden in de (silent) Science Disco.
We kijken terug op een inspirerende dag vol verbinding, verdieping en verwondering. Wetenschap, erfgoed en technologie kwamen samen in een onmiskenbare festivalsfeer!
