Discover for yourself what you can do with 3D and experience the possibilities for archaeological research or museums? At the Balneum, you can get acquainted with 3D in an accessible way. Various processing methods will be demonstrated, and live 3D scans and 3D prints will be made. Want to know more? Come along and discover it for yourself!
10:30 – 11:00
Drone remote sensing demonstration
LOCATION ROUNDABOUT
Mason Scholte And Tug Boat, 4D Research Lab
8 people at a time
Always wanted to know what drones can mean for archaeology? After an introduction on the how and why of drone remote sensing, there will naturally be some ‘live’ flying. On the ramparts of the Castellum, you can watch flights with a Lidar sensor and a regular camera. Of course, there's room for all your questions in this area. Watch and fly along!
11:30 – 11:45
Deir ez-Zor (Syria)
LOCATION Bathroom

Screening of the short film Documenting the Built Cultural Heritage of Deir ez-Zor in the Post-Conflict Phase. Lamis and Bahaa, two young, gifted Syrian heritage specialists, made a video of the Deir ez-Zor Heritage Library (DZHL) – a voluntary initiative focused on the built cultural heritage of the city and province of Deir ez-Zor in eastern Syria. The project was founded by Lamis Bakjaji, a native of Deir ez-Zor, in collaboration with Bahaa Abdallah.

Archaeological recording with photogrammetry and 3D modelling
Roosje de Leeuwe & Jan Albert Schenk, RAAP
10 people at a time
In the workshop, it will be explained in 20 minutes how to create a 3D model using your phone and smart software. After a brief introduction about what it is, why you would do this, and how it is applied in modern (field) archaeology, a demonstration will follow in which an object is modelled live.
